Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Conversation
As part of this year’s Where Do We Go from Here – Chaos or Community celebration,
Foundational Associate Professor in MSU’s Department of African American and African Studies Tamura Lomax, Ph.D. presents a keynote speech, “We Don’t Need a Hero. We Need Accountable Community Workers,” encouraging listeners to do away with the simplistic whitewashed vision of Dr. King. The speech calls on us to more honestly read the moment we are in and to speak out against the status quo in the courageous manner of Dr. King.

Dr. Lomax will answer questions from the audience so there will be an opportunity for webinar attendants to engage with the keynote speaker. This featured conversation with Dr. Lomax will be moderated by Stratton Lee, Assistant Director for Undergraduate Programs, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and President of the MSU Black Faculty, Staff, and Administrators Association.”

The event will also feature remarks by MSU President Dr. Samuel L. Stanley and MSU Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Jabbar Bennett.
